My #climatechallenge...

WHat is this?

With a #climatechallenge you can make your everyday life more climate-friendly. We distinguish between the Footprint Challenge and the Handprint Challenge:

In the Footprint Challenge, you set yourself the goal of discontinuing a decisively climate-damaging habit of yours and challenge yourself to follow through with this plan for 30 days. Even if the change in your everyday life is small, the fact is that you use less resources and cause fewer CO2 emissions. This will reduce your carbon footprint and do something good for the environment. At the same time, you not only take responsibility for your own actions, but also gain new experiences, discover alternatives and become part of an ever-growing community that is committed to the world of tomorrow.

With the Handprint Challenge, you can work together to change structures in our society so that environmentally friendly behavior becomes easier for everyone. So grab a few friends and see what simple ideas can grow into!

To support you in your change to a climate-friendly lifestyle, you can find various #climatechallenges here, sorted by Footprint and Handprint challenges, with the help of which you can save large amounts of CO2 emissions. Of course, you can also create your own challenge.

Can you manage to live more climate-friendly for 30 days?

Before you start...

Here's what's worked well for you to remember before you start your challenge:

  • Visualize how cool it will feel when you've done it.
  • Others like you have already done it - check out #MyChallenge for some impressions of them.
  • Think about what obstacles you'll face and then what you'll do specifically.
  • Contribute to our research with this survey (german)
  • Stay relaxed - of course you want to know if you will make it - but don't lose your cheerfulness :-)

Create knowledge

We are interested in why people become active in climate protection and how they fare in the process. That's what we're researching. We incorporate the results into improvements to the #climatechallenge format. We also feed these findings into the scientific and social discussion about how the necessary change towards sustainability can succeed.

Specifically, we (scientists at the Department of Sustainable Economics at the University of Applied Sciences Konstanz and sociologists at the University of Konstanz) conduct three surveys around the Challenge participation:

  • Before the start of the Challenge --> online survey (german)
  • Immediately after completion of the Challenge --> online survey (german)
  • Approximately half a year after completion of the Challenge

Take a few minutes and share your experiences this way.

Share your story!

Show your friends that you are doing a #climatechallenge and encourage them to do the same. Tell them about your coolest experience...
